An Important, Painful Lesson
The most cruel thing next to not allowing me to have unicorn hair is the inability to apply makeup!
The whole of yesterday I was home and felt as though someone had punched me in my right eye! I brushed it off thinking I had rubbed my eyes too hard while asleep. But when I washed my face I found this little annoying sty right smack in the middle of my top lid!
It hurts when I blink and it just feels so tender and sore.
Just a little back ground, a sty is a tender, painful red bump located at the base of an eyelash or under or inside the eyelid. A sty results from a localized infection of the glands or a hair follicle of the eyelid. They are a result of clogged oil glands or infected hair follicles on the eyelid.
I immediately suspected that I got it from an older mascara which I used at my boyfriend's place for emergency use.
This painful lesson has reminded me to always throw away old makeup, especially mascaras.
1. Never share cosmetics or cosmetic eye tools (such as lash curlers or eyelash combs) with others.
(Andrea and I are guilty of this, but we only do it when its really necessary)
2. Keep eye tools clean - Wash/sanitise your eye brushes, lash combs, lash curlers, basically anything that goes near your eyes! Even if its your fingers!
3. Discard old or contaminated eye makeup!!! - An infection is never worth the price of 'saving' your makeup to make it last longer.
4. Keep all cosmetics clean - I always use a antiseptic wet wipe or alcohol swabs to clean my palettes and whatever I feel needs cleaning!
5. Do not touch the eye and surrounding areas - I know rubbing your eye feels good, but this is a good habit to have to prevent pimples too. I never like anyone touching my face since young, I would snap at whoever! haha
So, lesson of the day is that hygiene is super important! This would be the first and last time I ever will nurse a sty :(
For those who have dirty makeup kits, go clean it now!! No excuses!

My sty isn't as big but it's located under my upper lash line and its just cruel!

The Athens Experience - Athens Hair Salon
Hello,
As most of you would have already seen, I decided to chop off my long coloured hair ever so ruthlessly. I was never one who got sentimental over my hair. Embracing change is something I'm used to and welcome!
The first major snip off happened at the Redken Hair Makeover which I won on their facebook page. I went there not really knowing what I was going to do with my long blue hair. So I left it to them and said; Do ANYTHING you want.
I didn't really tell anyone what I was doing, not even Andrea. I decided to be real cheeky and post this photo on my Instagram (mariemjsoh) :
I had so much fun reading all the comments! I totally should have made extensions out of my hair! Dammit!
This was the final out come of the Redken makeover. It's interesting and a very tai tai (rich married woman) look. But then!!!! I saw this picture on my brother's laptop and my eyes opened so big!
Shannyn Sossamon is so GORGEOUS and I totally loved the effortless look and hairstyle!
After getting my nails done at Dia Bella, I got my hair cut at Athen's by Weng.
The moment I saw her hair I knew I was in good hands, she had a similar hair style that was looking for! I showed her my reference photo and off I went.
Here's Weng, she's so camera shy!
I enjoyed my experience with Athens, from the relaxing, shiock head scrub/hair wash, till the end when she styled my hair!
The cut was pretty fast and Weng definitely was very confident and proficient with her work. The salon is also clean and neat, really good for the slight OCD me. Do check out Athen's Facebook page to check out their other works.

Dia Bella Nail Spa & Athens Hair Salon (Singapore)
*Update: Its been over a week now and my nails are still in mint condition. I worked, travelled and basically abused my hands/nails. I'm normally not a dainty female species (very chor lor) and I do a lot of work with my hands, and NONE! NOT A SINGLE BLING BLING DROPPED OUT! I'm certainly impressed by the quality of the nails/nail art! Well done Dia Bella!
So, Andrea and I went to get our nails done at Dia Bella Nail Spa and get our hair trimmed at Athens Hair Salon in Serangoon Gardens.
First Impressions:
It is a really nice and cosy place. Spacious and well decorated. The Dia Bella is housed within Athens so look out for the Athens sign outside.

It is conveniently located within the heart of Serangoon Gardens, just opposite the My Village mall.
The nearest mrt is Serangoon Mrt.
They recommended me to try out their Bridal nail art. I got acrylic tip extensions done to lengthen my nails. My nails were encrusted with Swarovski elements, pearls and heart thingyies. Perfect if you are a magpie and totally love your bling. It was interesting first experience with such girly long nails.
Overall we really love our shiny new nails! Hopefully it will last long enough.

We we impressed by the overall hygiene levels of the spa. The tool were welll sterilised an the tool baskets were kept neat and clean. The nail technician, Elaine was really neat, gentle and proficient.
Our Nails:
Andrea chose a plaid design that was done with Gellyfit gel polishes, which she loved!
Each stripe was added layer by layer and too quite a lot of time. But the result was well worth the effort.
Overall we really love our shiny new nails! Hopefully it will last long enough.

Eyelash Extension from De Perfect Beauty
When i was dyeing Marie's friend's hair i noticed that she has really gorgeous eyelashes but it wasnt falsies. She recommended this place, De Perfect Beauty. So i decided to try it out, why not right?
My friend Jessica was really interested in it so she went along with me.
Overall i really liked the result with the eyelash extensions.
But because my eyelids are really sensitive, especially so when i've just removed my eyeliner, it was quite an itchy 1 and a half hrs.
Update 2 weeks later:
It was quite strange that night when i took out my contact lenses, cause the extensions were so long that it brushed against my spectacle lenses whenever i blinked. Hilarious.
Removing makeup with cotton buds is not the most convenient thing, especially when you wear as much eyeshadow as i do.
I am not the most gentle and careful of girls so i dont really expect mine to last more than 1 month. A few stands here and there have dropped out already. If i does drop in your eye, it feels the same as a normal eyelash.
