Make Up Forever Academy- Final Exam

The topic for my final exam was Bridal makeup. Got my friend Ros to be my model and as you can see from the photos we had quite a lot of fun joking about while everyone is was being stressed with the exam. Oh and I made that hair piece from a lace appliqué and a comb, yay for DIY!

So now, i'm officially a Makeup Artist!

When my trainer presented me my cert, she said some nice stuff about me and ended off with 'colour runs in your blood' and that was probably one of the best compliments ever, apart from the time that Ros said 'Andrea can make god happen on your face'.

Make Up For Ever Academy

So after 1 year of delay, I'm finally in makeup school! Yay!

I chose Make Up For Ever Academy's Module 1 which is Fashion, Photography & Bridal Make Up. 
Week 1 was great, cant wait for next week :D

Andrea with Bridal Nails? Whatt???

My bridal-esque nails from Dia Bella. It was my turn to try out the bling this month.

I was inspired by a few different photos that i saw on tumblr last year. That's actually my natural nails, i've never been able to grow them so long because they usually break and chip but with the gel polishes that Dia Bella did for me the previous round, i managed to grow them out. One thing i actually would like to note is that my previous plaid nails only chipped after a month and when they were soaked off, the gel came off quite easily and didnt leave ny nails gross and damaged (unlike previous experiences i've had with other nail places)

We also painted the underside of my nails cause they're always stained by all the hair and clothes dyeing that i do.

Check out Marie's diamond nails with the owl accent! How gorgeous and adorable are they right??? 

(I recommended her that combination btw haha)

The Athens Experience - Athens Hair Salon

As most of you would have already seen, I decided to chop off my long coloured hair ever so ruthlessly. I was never one who got sentimental over my hair. Embracing change is something I'm used to and welcome!

The first major snip off happened at the Redken Hair Makeover which I won on their facebook page. I went there not really knowing what I was going to do with my long blue hair. So I left it to them and said; Do ANYTHING you want.

I didn't really tell anyone what I was doing, not even Andrea. I decided to be real cheeky and post this photo on my Instagram (mariemjsoh) :

I had so much fun reading all the comments! I totally should have made extensions out of my hair! Dammit!

                                       

This was the final out come of the Redken makeover. It's interesting and a very tai tai (rich married woman) look. But then!!!! I saw this picture on my brother's laptop and my eyes opened so big!

Shannyn Sossamon is so GORGEOUS and I totally loved the effortless look and hairstyle!

After getting my nails done at Dia Bella, I got my hair cut at Athen's by Weng.

The moment I saw her hair I knew I was in good hands, she had a similar hair style that was looking for! I showed her my reference photo and off I went.

DO YOU LIKE IT? I TOTALLY LOVE IT!

 I enjoyed my experience with Athens, from the relaxing, shiock head scrub/hair wash, till the end when she styled my hair!

The cut was pretty fast and Weng definitely was very confident and proficient with her work. The salon is also clean and neat, really good for the slight OCD me. Do check out Athen's Facebook page to check out their other works.

Dia Bella Nail Spa & Athens Hair Salon (Singapore)

*Update: Its been over a week now and my nails are still in mint condition. I worked, travelled and basically abused my hands/nails. I'm normally not a dainty female species (very chor lor) and I do a lot of work with my hands, and NONE! NOT A SINGLE BLING BLING DROPPED OUT! I'm certainly impressed by the quality of the nails/nail art! Well done Dia Bella!




So, Andrea and I went to get our nails done at Dia Bella Nail Spa and get our hair trimmed at Athens Hair Salon in Serangoon Gardens.

First Impressions:
It is a really nice and cosy place. Spacious and well decorated. The Dia Bella is housed within Athens so look out for the Athens sign outside.

Hygiene & Services:

We we impressed by the overall hygiene levels of the spa. The tool were welll sterilised an the tool baskets were kept neat and clean. The nail technician, Elaine was really neat, gentle and proficient.

Our Nails:

Andrea chose a plaid design that was done with Gellyfit gel polishes, which she loved!  

Each stripe was added layer by layer and too quite a lot of time. But the result was well worth the effort.

They recommended me to try out their Bridal nail art. I got acrylic tip extensions done to lengthen my nails. My nails were encrusted with Swarovski elements, pearls and heart thingyies. Perfect if you are a magpie and totally love your bling. It was interesting first experience with such girly long nails.

Overall we really love our shiny new nails! Hopefully it will last long enough.
